FRIENDS OF WINTERTON GARDEN FESTIVAL

Festival LogoThe Winterton Garden Festival is an annual event to celebrate the joy of gardening at the peak of the Summer season. Now in its 10th year, it usually consists of over 20 Open Gardens of varying size and style, all within the small town of Winterton in rural North Lincolnshire.

This year's Garden Festival and Scarecrow Hunt (more of that later) will be on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th July 2009.

AIMS OF THE FESTIVAL

The Festival is provided to enable visitors to enjoy a wide range of different gardens; from small backyards full of colour and interest, to sweeping lawns and views across the Lincolnshire Wolds; from modern chic, to established cottage gardens and everything inbetween.

The Festival also exists as an enabler for local charities and voluntary groups to raise both awareness and valuable funds, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

2009 THEME

Each year we try to do something different by choosing a theme that has national or international relevance. The Theme for 2009 is "BIRDS, BEES & BUTTERFLIES" to capture all that is in our minds when we think of an English Garden in Summer especially as so many of these are under threat in some way.

2009 is also our 10th ANNIVERSARY so there will be extra emphasis on celebrating the joy of gardening.

FREE PARK & RIDE  If that sounds a lot to cover in one afternoon, we offer a 2-day ticket at no extra cost and throw in a free Park & Ride bus around the Open Gardens, with helpful tour guides on board. Just hop on and off as you please but for the fitter ones among you, it is walkable.
