WINTERTON GARDEN FESTIVALFestival Logo

The WINTERTON GARDEN FESTIVAL will be held on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th July 2010.  It usually consists of about 20 Open Gardens of varying size and style, all within the small town of Winterton in rural North Lincolnshire.

Now in its eleventh year, the WINTERTON GARDEN FESTIVAL, is principally intended as a celebration of the town's gardens which vary in size from small backyards through to large lawned gardens.  Some afford unusual glimpses of village architecture whilst others have views across the open countryside of North Lincolnshire.  Gardeners express their individual tastes.  Some are traditional whilst others are modern;  some are precisely planned whilst others are more organic.  All will have colour and will hold your interest.

The event hopes to involved the whole community.  Many enjoy making and viewing the scarecrows which traditionally appear over this weekend whilst others enjoy a natter as they walk or travel on the free shuttle bus around the village.

Other activities such as art and photographic exhibitions and country displays also take place.

Each year we choose a theme for the event and this year it is HEROES AND HEROINES.

Heros (and heroines) come from all walks of life and can be fact or fiction, historical or current.  Therefore the theme is not restricted to the armed forces, but can be anyone (or anything) that is a hero to somebody.

For example is your hero  Winston Churchill, Florence Nightingale, Neil Armstrong or Harry Potter ?  Or maybe Spiderman, David Beckham, Ellen MacArthur, King Arthur or your dad ? Or maybe someone else ?

We also contribute towards charity and this year our nominated organisations are HELP FOR HEROES and LINDSEY LODGE HOSPICE.

FREE PARK & RIDE  If there sounds a lot to cover in one afternoon, we offer a 2-day ticket and throw in a free Park & Ride bus around the Open Gardens, with helpful tour guides on board. Just hop on and off as you please but for the fitter ones among you, it is walkable.
